    May 22, 2017 - Ready to JAM!!!

Last week I set up a spot in the basement for me and Josh to use as a practice area. We're tinkering with the idea of an acoustic duo!

    July 31, 2016 - Lincoln is here!!!
Our first grandchild is here. Lincoln Allen Weaver.

    Feb 7, 2015 - Rockets!!!
We took a quick trip to Huntsville over the weekend and stopped in at the Space and Rocket Center. Here is a photo of me and Diane standing near the Saturn V...

    Dec 17, 2014 - 40K Paint Tests
I stopped at the GW World of Battle and bought a new pot of Macragge Blue and tested it out on a Terminator and a Space Marine Sergeant. It looks a lot darker than my old Ultramarine blue paint so I'm not sure if I'll use it or not. I guess it'll depend on whether the next layers get light enough to match to my existing army or not. I've got a couple of old pots of Ultramarine blue so worst case, I'll just stick with the old stuff.

I also started a test on some Hormagaunts for my new Tyranid paint scheme. My previous scheme was just way too complicated to be able to paint an entire Tyranid army. This scheme uses a white base coat, a wash of flesh colored ink on the body and then a brown gradient shaded color on the armor plates and claws. We'll see...

    Dec 15, 2014 - Terminators
Got a batch of 10 Space Marine Terminators that I'm working on this week. They've been soaking in Eco-Safe since Saturday and tonight I used a toothbrush to get most of the old paint off of them. They will be getting a new coat of Ultramarine blue and will join the ranks of my 40K Ultramarine army soon!

    Dec 14, 2014 - Avent Christmas
We had our Avent family Christmas lunch at our house today. Fun to see all my family but there were some that couldn't make it and we really miss them!

    May 10, 2014 - Alyssa and Ricky's big day!
Hard to believe it is finally here but today my baby girl got married. Alyssa is now Mrs. Richard Allen Weaver.

After several days of constant threats of rain, the weather turned out to be absolutely perfect. We had more friends and family than we anticipated and the ceremony and reception were like something out of a fairy tale. What a beautiful bride Alyssa was and the joy and excitement on thier faces radiated the love they share for one another. I know Ricky and Alyssa will be happy together forever.

Here are just a couple of photos. There will be many more to come as soon as we all get time to catch up.

    April 20, 2014 - Artist Trading Cards
I finally spent some time creating some ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) this weekend. These little 2.5" by 3.5" cards are the same size as a normal sports trading card, you know - a baseball card. They are also known as sketch cards or ACEOs (Artist Card Editions and Originals). The ATCs are normally done only with trading them in mind. Sketch cards, and specifically ACEOs are made with the intent to trade them or more specifically to sell them. (You can find tons of them on eBay if you search for ACEO.)

Anyway, here are what mine look like:

These two have already been offered up as trades for other artist's cards on the site. I think I'm going to switch over and do some in just black and white and keep them in my collection instead of trading them away. I'll probably keep doing some color ones too but I think I'll just keep building my personal collection before I trade them away from now on.

March 2014 - Master Chief Update!
Good and bad news on the Master Chief project. The good news is I've decided to switch from the Halo 3 version of Master Chief to the Forward Unto Dawn "movie" version of Master Chief. The bad news is I've decided to switch from the Halo 3 version of Master Chief to the Forward Unto Dawn "movie" version of Master Chief!

That means starting completely over from square one! Oh well, all the other work I did was great practice for the real thing I guess.
    February 16, 2014 - Master Chief Update!
Finally got back to my Master Chief costume and made some great progress. I got the helmet and the hand plates lined with "rondo". Rondo is a term used for a mixture of fiberglass resin and Bondo. It forms a liquid that can be poured or painted on and when it cures, it is hard as regular Bondo.

Sorry I didn't take any pictures but I'll try to get some posted up this week.

February 15, 2014 - Darth Vader in Memphis!
I wore my Darth Vader costume at an event to promote the Ashlar Hall Preservation by the Memphis Comic and Fantasy Convention. The weather was great and we stopped traffic all afternoon on Central in front of the University Club which is right across the street from Ashlar Hall.

You can see the video on the Action News 5 web site

Here are a couple of photos:

    January 12, 2014 - Bolt Action Photos
I finally got around to taking some photos of some of my Bolt Action miniatures.

Here are some shots of thems:

    November 27, 2013 - Apocalypse Table
The Delta 6 Game Club (formerly Adeptus Memphis) is hosting an all day Apocalypse battle at Mid South Hobbies & Games on Friday Nov. 29th. (day after Thanksgiving). I built five fortified wall sections as the main objective table for the game that the major action will take place on. The table is twelve feet long!

Here are some photos:

    November 16, 2013 - Memphis Comic & Fantasy Con
I was a game master for Memphis Comic and Fantasy Con this weekend and ran demo games of Bolt Action. I had a lot of people stop by and play and the reaction to the game was great. Had a fun day at the con.

Here is a photo of one of the games:

October 31, 2013 - Costume Contest at IP
I took my Stormtrooper costume to work and wore it for Halloween. Since I work in IT, you KNOW everyone there was excited to see a Star Wars character!

October 2013 - Remaining 2013 Graham Road Shows
I've decided to leave Graham Road at the end of 2013 and take a break from music for a while to focus on some other activities and hobbies.

If you want to see me live, here are the last chances you'll have for who knows how long...

  • October 26 @ The Crossing Bar & Grill - 7281 Hacks Cross Rd - Olive Branch, MS 38654 - 8pm to midnight
  • November 9 @ JRs Bar & Grill - 4788 Bethel Rd - Olive Branch, MS 38654 - 8pm to midnight
  • December 6 @ The Crossing Bar & Grill - 7281 Hacks Cross Rd - Olive Branch, MS 38654 - 8pm to midnight

    September 24, 2013 - Bolt Action!
I hosted a demo game of Bolt Action at Mid South Hobbies and Games last night. A co-worked stopped by and we had a really great time working through the rules and playing the game.

Here are some photos...

September 23, 2013 - Too busy, I have GOT to slow down!
Sorry, there just hasn't been time over the last couple of months to post much here. I've been really busy with the band (Graham Road) and have been working with several guys to reorganize the Adeptus Memphis game club so that is taking up a little time right now too. I've been working on my Bolt Action German army and have been focused on getting enough of them painted to run demo games at Mid-South Hobbies and Games. I'll be running my first demos tomorrow night (09/24) so if you'd like to see how to play, stop by between 6pm and closing.

Unfortunately the month of September has not been fun for anybody in the family. Diane's dad went into the hospital on September 5th and ended up in ICU for over two weeks. Diane was out of town helping her mom and once he got out of the hospital, they moved him to another care facility to rehab until he is strong enough to go home. THE GOOD NEWS...he got released today so hopefully his recovery will speed up now that he is getting to go home. Thanks to all our friends and family for the prayers, well wishes and even the meals you have provided!

I don't have any new updates on Master Chief...March 2014 is creeping up on me so I gotta get back to the Pepakura!

See my armor status page HERE

July 29, 2013 - Wow, long time between updates
June and July obviously were very busy months. Not many updates to the KevZone. We just got back from a week of vacation down in Destin, Florida and we all had a blast. I worked on some minis during the rainy days at the beach (yes, I've started ANOTHER army....28mm Soviets for WWII Bolt Action games).

I don't have any new updates on Master Chief...gotta get back to the Pepakura!

May 28, 2013 - No Master Chief Updates
May has been a busy month so I don't have any new updates on Master Chief.

    May 23, 2013 - Mark Your Calendar! June 8th
Mark your calendar for June 8th! I'll be trooping the Memphis Redbirds game for their annual Comic and Super Hero night. It's sure to be a fun event as always and they have fireworks after the game!

I'm not sure yet whether I'll be wearing my Darth Vader or my Stormtrooper costume so you'll just have to show up to see which one I'm in !

    May 2, 2013 - Master Chief Update
We're flying to Cancun tomorrow for a week of vacation so the Master Chief project will take a week off. I did pick up some fiberglass cloth this week so once I get back from vacation I'll be ready to start "glassing" the parts that are already in resin.

See my armor status page HERE

    April 28, 2013 - Master Chief Update
I put a coat of resin on the left shin armor so that piece is progressing. Printed out the left thigh and started scoring it but my fingers are sore from scoring, cutting and pepping so I'll probably take a couple of days off from this project.

See my armor status page HERE

    April 27, 2013 - Master Chief Update
Today's effort was a total waste of time. I pepped out the left thigh armor only to find out it wasn't scaled correctly and I had to throw away about 3 or 4 hours worth of work. Bummer!

See my armor status page HERE

    April 22, 2013 - Master Chief Update
I put a coat of fiberglass resin on the inside of my Mk VI helmet and also resined the hand plates.

I printed out the left shin and started pepping it out. Still waiting on my motocross armor before starting on the torso.

See my armor status page HERE

    April 21, 2013 - Master Chief Update
This weekend I put the first coat of fiberglass resin on my Mk VI helmet and it turned out really good. (I'll post photos when I get a chance.) I need to put a coat on the inside and once it fully cures, I'll be ready to move on to the fiberglassing stage for that piece.

I also pepped out both of the scaled down hand plates. I'll probably resin them while I'm finishing the inside of the helmet sometime this week.

Alyssa, Ricky and Kenny also worked on pepping out some armor parts so the group is making a little progress. Me and Ricky also both bought our motocross armor online so once that gets here, we'll be able to crank the torso building into high gear.

    April 17, 2013 - Master Chief Update
I pepped out one of the hand plates for my Spartan Mk VI armor and it ended up being WAY TOO BIG, so now I get to scale it and start all over. Ah, the joys of building pepakura armor! Next time I'll try to measure and scale before printing and building to see if I can get a little closer to the right scale without having to build the prototype part first.

    April 16, 2013 - Master Chief Update
Ricky finished pepping the chest prototype so we were able to try it on for scale purposes. It was a little big on him but fit me almost perfectly. Next step will be to print out the version I plan to build and get started pepping the real thing. It was a big help having the prototype available to check the scale...a lot of work but pays off in the long run.

["pepping" is a slang term for Pepakura. Pepakura is the art of making three dimensional models from paper.]

Here are some photos of the helmet resting on the chest armor. Can't wait to get the resin step started on the helmet this weekend.

    April 14, 2013 - Master Chief Update
Stayed up late and finished pepping the Mk VI Spartan helmet for my Master Chief costume. I'll take some photos soon but it turned out better than I originally thought it would. During the pepakura process I was a little worried because it was so flimsy, but now that it is all together, it is stronger than I feared it would be.

Building armor parts out of card stock is a new experience for me so I'm learning a lot as I go. Next up, I'll be adding a coat of resin to stiffen the cardstock and then on to fiberglassing the helmet.

April 13, 2013 - Graham Road at the Crossing
We had a great show at the Crossing. Mike (drummer) was able to play through the whole show even with his injured wrist.

    March 27, 2013 - New costume project for 2013!
Ok, you know I'm all about the Star Wars costumes and being a member of the 501st Legion but this year after going to Mid South Con I came home with a brand new plan for a costume project this year....MASTER CHIEF from Halo!

I've started researching it and once I told the family about it, Alyssa and Ricky (Alyssa's boyfriend) immediately wanted to join in and build a set of Spartan armor to wear to MSC next year. I even talked Diane into agreeing to go in costume. Looks like I'll be pretty busy this year learning pepakura and building Spartan armor!

    March 23, 2013 - Mid South Con 31
I had a great time at Mid South Con 31 this weekend. Got to see a lot of gaming friends that I haven't seen in a while. Several of my co-workers came out and even one of the members of the band stopped in to experience Mid South Con for the first time.

I trooped in my Stormtrooper costume on Saturday morning and then ran a game session of Flames of War Saturday afternoon. The con was a lot of work but I had a blast. I'm already looking forward to MSC32 next year. (I'll probably try a little less taxing game, I was tired from lugging troops and terrain all over the hotel.)

The rain came in on Saturday night and made loading out a pain, but overall it was still a fun con.

December 15, 2012 - Graham Road at Hot Shotz
Graham Road played at Hot Shotz in Batesville, MS on Dec. 15th. We had a great time and even though it was a rainy night, the late crowd came out and made it a party!

December 07, 2012 - Graham Road at the Crossing
My new band, Graham Road played at the Crossing Bar & Grill in Olive Branch on Dec. 7th. We had an awesome time and they told us we drew the biggest crowd they've ever seen on a Friday night!

November 29, 2012 - Our newest family member...
Say hello to Grendel, our new little puppy.

November 26, 2012 - Farewell to Sukey Magnolia
A very sad day, Sukey Magnolia, our female Shih Tzu of 12 years had to be put to sleep today. She lost her fight with cancer. RIP Sukinator.

    November 11, 2012 - National Metal Day !!!
It's that time again...National Metal Day! And yes, it perfectly coincides with my birthday. Rock on!

    October, 2012 - New band...
I've left my band "Double Shot" to play with a new band called "Graham Road". I had fun jamming with the guys in Double Shot over the last year but I felt it was time to move on and connect with a band that was ready to gig. Graham Road is a working band with gigs lined up so watch for updates on the upcoming shows. The first one will be in mid-December and that'll be my maiden gig with the new band.

    September 21, 2012 - Double Shot
My band "Double Shot" played a wedding reception at the Lichterman Nature Center. It was our drummer's daughter's wedding and it was a lot of fun.

    July 21, 2012 - Memphis Redbirds
Trooped at the "Superhero and Comic Night" with the Memphis Redbirds at AutoZone Park. As usual in July, it was incredibly HOT but it was a super fun troop.

See photos of this event on my Star Wars site at:

I got to see my nephew's new band, KID EGO, this weekend at the 1884 Lounge in Minglewood Plaza. I'll post some videos and photos later.

The show was great. The band did a fantastic job for their first "official" gig. My brother and sister-in-law were there and me and Ricky Weaver (my daughter's boy friend) stopped by after having gon to the Monster Truck Jam at the FedEx Forum.

Jan 21, 2012 - 2012 Crystal Ball - May the Force Be With Us!
The 12th Annual Crystal Ball Gala was held on January 21, 2012 and the theme was "May the Force Be With Us" so everything centered around Star Wars. The Southaven Arena was decorated like spaceships and a galaxy far, far away plus over 40 of the members of the 501st Legion and Rebel Legion were in attendance to make it a really special event!

There was also a portion of the live program where the costumed characters got to do a march through the arena to show off our costumes and it was an awesome spectacle! Visit my YouTube page to see the video: (link to be added soon)

It was a super cool event and won't be forgotten any time soon!

Here is a photo of me as Darth Vader at the conclusion of the march...
