Yep, it is...National Metal Day AND my birthday! What an honor to have metal-heads all over the globe celebrating metal on my birthday!
It was kinda cool and won't happen again in my lifetime but at 11 seconds past 11:11am on 11-11-11....and again at 11 seconds past 11:11pm on 11-11-11.

Sept 21, 2011 - Just like NEW...
|
I've been playing guitar this week learning some songs to prepare for an upcoming band rehersal. Since the last band I played in was way back
in the 80s, all of my electronics in my rig are over 30 years old now!. Needless to say, the potentiometers (volume knobs, etc.) were all
scratchy and noisy. I did a little research and found a lot of good reviews on a product called DeoxIT so I picked up a can of the FaderLube and gave it a try.
This stuff is AWESOME! I opened up the chassis on all my gear (amps, rack mounted DSP, overdrive, etc.) and followed the instructions. The
only thing I added was using my air compressor to blow off all the left over spray (too impatient to let it air dry). By the time I got the amp
back together, I figured it would have dried so I plugged it in, fired it up and voila! The volume, tone and all the other controls on the amp
all worked like NEW! The amp sounded great and I had no crackle or scratchy noises when adjusting the controls.
I'm a believer and will not hesitate to use this product on anything I own with an old scratchy or noisy potentiometer. My guitars are next...they aren't
scratchy yet, but this stuff will certainly keep them lubricated and in good working shape.

Finished my Darth Vader costume and wore it to the July 4th Celebration in Olive Branch. It was a big hit with the fans.

Went to the Bon Jovi concert last night at the FedEx Forum. Ritchie Sambora wasn't in the line up due to being in
rehab but they rocked out just the same.

I trooped solo at the first ever Memphis Comic & Fantasy Con at the Memphis Cook Convention Center. It was a fun event, lots of photos taken with the con-goers.

October 17, 2010 - Walk for Diabetes

I trooped at the Columbus, MS Walk for Diabetes to support the Mississippi Diabetes Foundation. It was a fun day and I even got a fast 2-second spot on the Columbus 10 o'clock news...
(you have to wait through the ad then the spot about the Diabetes Walk starts around the 50 second mark.)

I've obtained an account on the Elfwood site and will be posting my sketches, drawings and computer colorized artwork as soon as I can get the scans completed and my page set up on Elfwood. Look back later for a link to my gallery on Zone 47 on Elfwood. Zone 47 is the science fiction section of the Elfwood galleries. As time goes on
I also plan to set up an account on the other sections of Elfwood for my fantasy and fanart drawings as well.

I've started a new Warhammer 40K army. Believe it or not, my choice was the Tyranids! I know, you probably think I'm crazy trying to collect both ULTRAMARINES and TYRANIDS,
but I figured it would be cool to have my Ultras and their arch enemies...the bugs! I'll post some photos of my bugs soon, I've got them built but haven't settled on a paint scheme yet.

Saw three bands at the New Baisy on Beale Friday night, January 4, 2002. Wired SL opened the show and for a
new band were pretty impressive. Dis-Missle came on next to a very friendly home-town crowd. Headliner, Zach
Myers Band came on with a energetic set and rocked for a good time with an awesome show closing rendition of
Hendrix's Fire.
I'm not into the sounds that Wired SL and Dis-Missle play, but they put on a very professional and high-energy
show...if you listen to 93X or 94.1 the Buzz...check them out. They are sometimes played on those station's
local only features.
As for ZMB...I've got their CD, it's good, but their live show is where they really shine. I was very
impressed with their show, their sound and their professionalism! If you get a chance to see them...do it!
